A little background information on myself to validate my experience at Harshman Automotive; I am an ASE Master Automotive Technician with over 11 years of experience. When my '99 F250's fuel pump died in my driveway it was easier to have it towed one mile to Harshman's than the 30+ miles to my work to fix it myself.

Warning, don’t go here! Had a water pump replaced on a Ford Flex which requires the valve cover to be removed. The tech that did the work ripped 3 seals inside the valve cover and didn’t bother to replace them. Since the seals are inside the valve cover(and are for the sensor attached to the valve cover it took a few months to show signs of leaking) and included in the gasket kit they should have been replaced during the job. Now that it’s a few months down the road and oil pouring out of the sensor the shop will not stand by there work and replace the seals. We will never recommend anyone doing business with these shad tree mechanics!

Initially I was pleased with the repair. They allowed me to supply the fuel pump sending unit which saved me some money. I was pleased with the timeliness and end cost. Unfortunately, the first time I filled my fuel tank, it leaked terribly. I brought it back to them to diagnose the leak where it was concluded that they had torn the fuel pump seal. They repaired it at no cost to me. Upon return, I parked the truck on a steep hill with the "fixed leak" only to find that it leaked as bad as the initial incident. Additionally, the fuel ate the sealant off of my driveway. I took it back to Harshman who determined that I had a leaking fuel vent valve. I told them to go ahead and replace the valve. In determining that the valve was not a serviceable part (made into the tank) they broke the valve off. This required a complete fuel tank replacement. They admitted that they broke it, however, would only offer to put a used tank in the truck if I paid for labor. Foolishly I okay'd this repair. I got home with the truck again, and it leaked fuel, worse than ever. I took the truck back to them again, upon which they refused to look at the truck, claiming that the used tank had no warranty. This "no warranty" used tank was something that was installed into my truck because they broke my original tank. They told me they would not look at the truck and that I was no longer welcome as a customer of their's. I took it upon myself to diagnose the most recent fuel leak. I found a broken worm gear clamp at the fuel filler neck to tank connection. Clearly it was over-tightened to the point of failure when they installed the used tank, yet Harshman refused to take responsibility.

I called down 2 different times to make appointments for our car. I was told to give them my phone number and she would get back to me after she talked to the mechanics about the schedule. Well, guess what???? I NEVER RECEIVED THE CALLS. My opinion is that I aggravated them when my son put my brakes on for me. I would rather them be honest with me than not return my calls and talk to me about it.

I would never recommend bringing a vehicle to them that requires diagnostic work. It is evident that anything beyond basic maintenance exceeds their skill set.
